Job Overview:
We’re hiring an Engineer to support a Train 2 Platform Software team who has expertise/experience with VxWorks and YAFFS (Yet Another Flash File System) using NAND Flash. Will be involved in the design, development, integration, and verification of embedded operating system, flash files systems, applications, and drivers. Work will be in VxWorks, LynxOS, or embedded Linux and coded in C/C++, so proficiency in these areas is key. Knowledge of DO178C DAL-A safety-critical systems and secure software development is preferred but not required. Experience working in an Agile environment also be preferred.

Candidates must be able to understand the designs of the system hardware and software components and the interactions between them. Candidates should be experienced in communicating technical issues and status in both written and oral form to internal and external customers. The candidate must be adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, be able to collaborate with teammates in order to make the best decisions, enjoy learning new technologies, be self-motivated and contribute to a positive work environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, demonstrate, develop, and maintain flight-critical embedded software for military and commercial aviation solutions and avionics products.
  • Specify requirements, software implementation, test case development, verification test execution, and certification.
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct complex tests and debug systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Majority of work will be focused around developing, integrating, testing drivers and APIs to support data loaders and health managers.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for design, implementation, integration, and testing of flash file system, using YAFFS and NAND Flash storage.  

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable engineering field and 5+ years of experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person or Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
  • Experience in writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support
  • Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions
  • Experience designing/implementing file system solution using YAFFS on NAND Flash storage. (VxWorks preferred, but implementation on LynxOS, Linux, or Bare Metal acceptable)  
  • Energetic and proactive self-starter that builds sound, collaborative relationships
  • C/C++ programming experience!
  • Proficiency with modern software development best practices and configuration management tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coding in an embedded environment (VxWorks & LynxOS a plus)
  • Experience on programs using DO-178B/C or similar certification standards
  • Work with API & Driver development, Trusted Boot, Data Load, Health manager experience a plus.
  • Proficient with Atlassian Toolset (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Previous experience with Requirements management tools (Jama or DOORs)
  • Comfortable working in an Agile framework
