EXB Solutions (a Quest Defense Systems and Solutions company) is seeking a highly skilled FPGA Test Engineer who thrive at the intersection of hardware and software. You’ll design and test I&C electronic systems, build custom test fixtures and LabVIEW tools, support board-level design and bring-up, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure our systems perform where failure is not an option. This is where engineering meets impact—on the bench, in the lab, and in the field.

Due to the nature of the project all applicants must be US Citizens or US lawful permanent resident. This role is remote however will require 10-30% travel onsite depending on the project stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus on low-level software and FPGA testing.
  • Responsible for the delivery of high-quality engineering test fixtures, test tools and simulations utilized in the development of I&C Electronic Systems.
  • Preparing design specifications, developing LabVIEW software, limited FPGA development and performing integration testing of the design.
  • Design and implement I&C electronic hardware and software.
  • Own or support PCB board-level designs including schematics, layout, part selection, and documentation.
  • Perform Unit/Module and Integration testing of Software packages in support of I&C deliverables.
  • Performing Code Reviews and verifications of Design Specifications and Reports.
  • Support board bring-up and lab integration testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues in partnership with environmental test engineers; be present during testing to assist in real-time fault resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with systems and software teams to ensure electrical design meets overall system requirements.
  • Interface with manufacturing vendors to ensure robust design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and test procedures.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems or Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines (minimum)
  • 5+ years of experience in relevant discipline 
  •  Requires technical problem solving, strong hardware design skills, strong software design skills and software testing skills.
  • Experience in design verification and validation
  • Experience with coding conventions, unit testing and integration testing of software
  • Knowledge of common computer languages (C, C++, Python) and software development tools (Version control, IDE’s, Debuggers, etc.)
  • Experience with Static Analysis and Unit Testing Tools (LDRA) tools (or equivalent) and Software development infrastructure (GitLab)
  • Experience with PCB design (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, etc.), signal analysis and system verification tools (Altium, PSpice, SystemVerilog, UVM, etc.)
  • General knowledge and experience of schematic design, PCB layout, and PCB manufacturing
  • Experience with common HDL languages and PLD/FPGA development tools (Quartus, Vivado, ModelSim, Questa, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret and implement system-level requirements into board-level designs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
