Software Development and Verification Engineer – Commercial Systems FMS
Minneapolis, MN OR Cedar Rapids, IA preferred – possibility for some remote work

This position is with the CS FMS (commercial systems flight management systems) group within Rockwell Collins.

Position is for a software development and test engineer to work on the full software development lifecycle within Rockwell Collin’s FMS products. Engineer may work on main/common product line FMS, or on program specific FMS.

Responsibilities May Include:
Analyze system requirements and decompose to high and low level software requirements
Create detailed design from high and low level requirements
Write code to implement detailed design
Develop high level and low level software tests to test software against requirements
Execute tests against instrumented code and perform structural coverage analysis
Skills Needed

A working knowledge of one or more components of an FMS is highly desired, but not strictly necessary. For candidates who do not have a working FMS knowledge, they need to be experienced in the complete software development lifecycle with other avionics components such as displays, engine controls, flight controls, etc., and experienced with DO-178 B/C.

Minimum skill set needed:
Background in FMS, ARINC 702A, or another avionics area besides FMS
Experience in one or more change management systems (JIRA, ClearQuest, etc), one or more code configuration management systems (Subversion, GIT, etc), and one or more requirements management systems (DOORS, JAMA, etc)
Experience writing high and low level requirements and performing detailed design
Experience with C or Ada in an embedded environment
Experience writing high or low level software verification artifacts, including test cases, test procedures, and test scripts. High and low level experience preferred.
Experience with creating and reviewing traceability between requirements, code, and test

Preferred skill set – Note these are a bonus but are not required:
Experience with JAMA for requirements management
Experience with Subversion for code configuration management
Experience with JIRA and agile workflow for change management
Experience with VectorCast in a unit test environment or a structural coverage analysis environment

Security Clearance:
No security clearance is required but program does have export controls so candidate must be a US person.

Travel Expectations:
Travel is every 3rd week at the middle of each sprint to maximize efficiency and productivity of on-site time.
