This role requires US Citizenship and is primarily remote, with 1-2 weeks onsite for onboarding and potential travel quarterly as required by the program.
We are seeking a skilled RNP (Required Navigation Performance) Analysis Engineer to support the design, analysis, and implementation of performance-based navigation (PBN) systems. This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and safety of navigation solutions that meet RNP specifications, enabling advanced operational capabilities for aerospace or aviation projects.
Responsibilities May Include:
- RNP System Analysis and Design:
- Perform analyses to ensure compliance with RNP specifications (e.g., RNP 0.3, RNP AR).
- Design and optimize navigation procedures based on operational needs and safety requirements.
- Performance Assessment:
- Analyze navigation accuracy, integrity, continuity, and availability to validate compliance with RNP standards.
- Conduct performance simulations using GNSS, Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), and other sensors.
- Algorithm Development:
- Develop and implement algorithms for lateral and vertical navigation guidance.
- Support sensor fusion and integrity monitoring to enhance navigation reliability.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Work with aviation authorities (e.g., FAA, EASA) to ensure compliance with PBN and RNP regulations.
- Prepare documentation to meet RTCA, ICAO, or EUROCAE standards.
- Testing and Validation:
- Conduct flight testing and hardware-in-the-loop simulations to validate RNP performance.
- Analyze GNSS interference, jamming, and multipath effects on RNP accuracy.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including avionics, systems, and safety engineers.
- Support airspace and procedure design teams in implementing RNP capabilities.
- Risk Mitigation:
- Identify and mitigate risks related to RNP operations, such as signal loss or system failure.
- Design redundant navigation architectures to support critical operations.
- Innovation:
- Propose and evaluate innovative navigation techniques to enhance RNP performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Experience in navigation performance analysis or PBN procedure development.
- Knowledge of GNSS, INS, and avionics systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or other tools for RNP analysis.
- Familiarity with standards such as RTCA DO-229, ICAO Doc 9613 (PBN Manual), and ARINC 424.
- Understanding of flight management systems (FMS) and aircraft navigation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of advanced navigation concepts like RNP AR (Authorization Required).
- Experience in conducting flight trials and data analysis for RNP procedures.
- Familiarity with airspace design and operational procedures in the aviation domain.
