EXB Solutions (a Quest Defense company) is hiring System Safety Engineers to join our team to assist in planning, defining, and verifying system safety requirements and system safety hazard analysis artifacts to ensure design integrity and safety.

This is an onsite role in Phoenix, AZ and requires US Citizenship or Green Card holder. All candidates much live near Phoenix, AZ or be willing to relocate or travel periodically.

As a Systems Safety engineer, you will:

Perform Systems Safety Analyses for Avionics, using ARP4754A, ARP4761, and all applicable Regulatory guidance and Advisory Circulars. Using NG DOORS, document System Safety Design Decisions and Requirements and allocate to sub-systems. Develop Safety of Flight Test Plans and Procedures. Perform FHA-FDAL-IDAL analyses.  Perform system level Common Mode Analyses. Create fault trees using CAFTA.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Planning, defining, and verifying system safety requirements and system safety hazard analysis artifacts to ensure design integrity and safety.
  • Performing System Safety Hazard Analysis, developing analysis reports
  • Providing validation/verification of requirements and providing feedback to the program and customer.
  • Reviewing client and supplier submitted documents relative to system safety engineering IAW AMCOM Regulation 385-17.
  • Utilize the available guidance/process material that is documented in SAE ARP-4761, SAE ARP-4754A, Advisory Circulars (AC 23.1309-1E, AC 25-11B, AC 29-2C) and Code of Federal Regulations for a given Aircraft Class and work with the Systems Engineering team (while using INF-5410) to aid in designing a system that is compliant with and that can be certified for any of the various Aircraft Classes mentioned.
  • Providing guidance to engineering teams and suppliers relative to system safety engineering.
  • Maintaining and implementing the system safety program plan documented processes.
  • Working semi-autonomously, with the support of the functional SME, to create Safety artifacts.
  • Performing system safety critical function analysis.

  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years system safety engineering experience in the aerospace industry with a heavy focus in commercial programs.
  • Experience with SAE ARP4761 & safety aspects of SAE ARP4754A.
  • Experience in development of Functional Hazard Analyses, Fault Tree Analyses, System Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analyses, Safety Assessment Reports and supporting Safety Artifacts.
  • Experience with system safety aspects of RTCA DO-178C and/or RTCA DO-254.
  • Familiarity and efficiency in CAFTA (or equivalent Fault Tree Analysis Tool – this could be RELEX), DOORS NG, JIRA (or equivalent Problem Reporting/Tracking Tool).
  • Experience in Rationale Quality Management (Configuration Management Tools), Change Control Board Process, Agile and FCI Process, Teamscenter, Visio, System Engineering, Platform Design.
  • Familiarity with EPIC and Anthem Integrated Avionics is a plus but not required.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Rationale Quality Management (Configuration Management Tools), Change Control Board Process, Agile and FCI Process, TeamCenter, Visio, System Engineering, Platform Design.
  • Familiarity with EPIC and Anthem Integrated Avionics is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in coordinating technology designs with architectural requirements and constraints.
  • Be able to mentor more junior engineers.
