EXB Solutions (a Quest Defense Systems and Solutions company) is seeking highly experienced DERs and ODA Unit Members to accelerate certification and production readiness. This role is critical to achieving certification milestones for our client’s programs. These individuals will work directly with the client’s engineering teams and FAA oversight offices to verify compliance with airworthiness regulations and ensure the aircraft’s systems, structures, and performance meet applicable certification standards.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Acting as a liaison between Bell and the FAA (or other regulatory authorities).
- Reviewing and approving engineering designs, modifications, and repairs to ensure they meet regulatory requirements.
- Preparing and submitting necessary documentation for certification, including compliance reports and test plans.
- Providing technical guidance and support to engineering teams on regulatory compliance and certification processes.
- Reviewing and validating engineering data, including stress analysis, material properties, and system performance.
- Conducting conformity inspections and ensuring all engineering activities adhere to industry standards and regulations.
- Managing certification projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and successful approval.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and program management, to facilitate project progress.
- Monitoring project milestones and ensure all certification activities are completed within the project timeline.
- Training and mentoring engineering staff on certification processes and regulatory requirements.
- Developing and maintaining internal certification procedures and best practices.
- Staying current with industry regulations & standards and communicating updates to the engineering team.
- Maintaining accurate records of all certification activities, approvals, and correspondence with regulatory authorities.
- Preparing detailed reports on compliance and certification status for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensuring all documentation is organized and easily accessible for audits and inspections.
Required Qualifications:
- FAA approved DER with active authorization in one or more relevant technical areas or previous experience working within an Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) framework, with a strong understanding of the associated processes and responsibilities.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the aerospace industry, with a significant portion dedicated to certification activities for military or commercial rotorcraft.
- In-depth understanding of FAA, and relevant airworthiness standards, including FARs and other applicable certification criteria.
- Strong technical background in rotorcraft design, systems engineering, and integration, with experience in areas relevant to 525.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, executing, and documenting certification tests.
- Proven ability to lead and manage certification projects, including timeline development, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, regulatory authorities, and program management.
- Expertise in preparing and reviewing certification documents, compliance reports, and technical data in alignment with regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior involvement in certification activities related to rotorcraft programs.
- Specialized knowledge in cutting-edge rotorcraft technologies.
- INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent certification.
- Familiarity with MBSE tools and processes, particularly in the context of certification and compliance activities.
- Experience working with international regulatory agencies such as EASA, TCCA, or other national aviation authorities.
- Master’s, PhD, or other advanced certifications.
